AASL Content Standard 2: Literacy and Reading
Reading. I wouldn't be surprised if over 90 percent of the school librarians enter the profession because they list "reading" as one of their "hobbies" on questionnaires. A school librarian experiences fulfillment and success when she can put a book in the hands of a student and know the student will sit down and read it. Reluctant readers walk into the library, and it becomes the librarian's mission to have that same student to leave the library with a book that very same day. The artifacts I included for the indicators under the second AASL content standard demonstrate my proficiency in the advancement of reading among all students. More importantly, they reflect how much I love to see students read.
