AASL Content Standard 4: Advocacy and Leadership
A difficult role for a school librarian to fulfill is that of leader. Some teachers and administrators already know and value the worth of the school librarian and the expertise the school librarian brings to the school community's growth. Others do not. In order to advocate for her library, the school librarian must be a leader in her own right: visiting department meetings, running professional development sessions, writing for the PTSA newsletter, even participating in school functions outside of the school day. I am prepared to take on this role as leader as evidenced by the artifacts listed below.
