AASL Content Standard 5: Program Management and Administration
Without proper management and administration, a school library is ineffective. Students cannot access information if books are outdated, their freedom to information and reading is curbed, or the collection of materials does not correspond with all subjects' curricula. A school librarian must provide equitable and up-to-date access to information in order to meet the needs of her students. I understand that this particular school librarian role, while largely behind-the-scenes, is the one that maintains the usefulness and efficiency of the school library. The artifacts listed below are evidence of my program management and administration understanding.
